We are very excited to get started on our new websites about Poultry Hatcheries. Hatcheries are becoming more and more common place because of the ever growing popularity of raising chickens. I suppose we should say the return to raising chickens. People are doing raising chickens more and more in their back yard. In centuries past, small farmers would keep a flock of chickens. In that flock, they would keep a rooster. Besides waking people up every morning, the rooster's responsibility is partly protection but mostly to fertilize eggs. Thus, small chicken farmers could sustain and replenish their own flock each year.
These days most back yard chicken farmers do not want a rooster. Roosters do not fit into the back yard model very well because they are loud and usually far more aggressive than hens. Because the model for backyard chickens has shifted slightly, there is a greater need for poultry hatcheries. These hatcheries specialize in shipping live chickens or fertilized eggs to customers. Many have minimum purchase requirements for shipping but we'll go through that step by step as we build out the site.
